Factory Blast In Hazaribagh Severely Injures Two Workers
Furnace Explosion At Chintpurni Steel Leads To Critical Burns
Incident sparks worker protests over inadequate safety measures at facility.
HAZARIBAGH – A major accident occurred at Chintpurni Steel Private Limited in Hazaribagh district’s Charhi police station area, leaving two workers critically injured.
Munna Prasad Yadav and Jitendra Kumar suffered severe burns in a furnace blast around 2:30 AM.
The injured, both from Bihar’s Gaya district, were working as crane operators at the time of the incident.
"Both victims are undergoing treatment at Dev Kamal Hospital, Ranchi in critical condition," a hospital spokesperson stated.
The explosion has sparked protests among factory workers over safety concerns.
Key issues raised by workers include:
– Inadequate safety equipment provided (only shoes and caps)
– Lack of mandatory safety belts and protective clothing
– Management’s alleged neglect of worker safety
About 500 workers are employed at the factory in round-the-clock shifts.
This incident follows a similar accident at an aluminium factory in Hazaribagh last September, which resulted in two fatalities.
The recurring nature of such accidents has raised serious questions about industrial safety standards in the region.
Local authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the blast and review safety protocols at the facility.
