Ranchi to Host FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier Matches from Jan 13-19
Eight International Teams to Compete in Ranchi for Olympic Qualification
Ranchi set to host eight matches of the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier Tournament, featuring top international teams.
RANCHI – Ranchi is gearing up to host the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier Tournament from January 13 to January 19.
Eight teams, including Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Italy, America, and India, will participate.
The teams are split into Pool A and Pool B.
The top-performing women’s team in the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier will secure a spot in the Paris Olympics.
The Hockey Association has scheduled the matches from 12:00 noon to 9:00 pm starting on January 13.
The tournament commences on January 13 with Germany facing Chile in the opening match.
This will be followed by a game between Japan and the Czech Republic.
Later, New Zealand takes on Italy at 5:00 pm, and India competes against the United States from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
The schedule for January 14 includes matches between Chile and the Czech Republic, Japan and Germany, the United States and Italy, and New Zealand against India.
January 15 is a rest day, with the tournament resuming on January 16.
Matches on this day include Germany vs. the Czech Republic, Chile vs. Japan, the United States vs. New Zealand, and India vs. Italy.
Following four days of intense competition, another rest day is scheduled for January 17.
The teams excelling in the initial rounds will continue their pursuit on January 18 and 19.
The Jharkhand Government played a pivotal role in bringing this prestigious event to Ranchi, having requested the International Hockey Federation to host the matches.
As a result, eight matches of the tournament will take place in Ranchi, offering a significant boost to the local sports scene and fans.
