JAMSHEDPUR – The 2023 Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award has been awarded to Tata Steel’s Natural Resources Division for their groundbreaking advancements in mining technology.

The recognition took place at the 18th International Conference for Corporate Social Responsibility in Mumbai.

Former Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah, chaired the jury that acknowledged Tata Steel’s exceptional contribution.

This award highlights Tata Steel’s commitment to enhancing mining operations through innovative technology and sustainable practices.

The innovation that set Tata Steel apart involves using drones for detailed digital mine mapping and integrating this data with sophisticated resource modeling software.

This unique combination of technology enables a thorough analysis of mine dynamics, improving safety, efficiency, and compliance.

D. B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President of Raw Material at Tata Steel, emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation and the significant impact of drone technology and data analytics on mine monitoring.

Tata Steel’s innovative methods are already operational in its West Bokaro coal and manganese mines.

Plans are underway to extend these advanced mining solutions to chromite and iron ore mines within the next 3-6 months.

The Golden Peacock Awards are known for recognizing organizations that effectively integrate innovation and risk management into their operations, enhancing overall performance.
