Jamshedpur Leads in PM Street Vendor Scheme

Jharkhand’s Success in PM Swanidhi Yojana: Jamshedpur Tops in Loans

Jamshedpur excels in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor Self-reliant Fund Scheme, significantly aiding sidewalk vendors in Jharkhand.

RANCHI – In a recent update from the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore, highlighted Jamshedpur’s leading role in the successful implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor Self-reliant Fund Scheme in Jharkhand.

This revelation came in response to inquiries by MP Sanjay Seth.

The Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, aimed at fostering self-reliance among street vendors, has facilitated a substantial Rs 104 crore in loans to 72,605 vendors across Jharkhand.

Kaushal Kishore detailed the scheme’s phased approach, offering initial loans of Rs 10,000, followed by increased amounts in subsequent phases.

A unique aspect of the scheme is the encouragement of digital transactions through cashback rewards.

The scheme operates as a central sector initiative, with direct disbursement of loans to vendors’ accounts, bypassing state-level funding channels.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh leads nationally with over 12 lakh beneficiaries, followed by Madhya Pradesh.

Jharkhand’s contribution to the nationwide total of 56,80,867 beneficiaries is noteworthy, with East Singhbhum district leading in loan distribution.

Kishore also pointed out that the issuance of ID cards and formation of redressal committees for vendors fall under state jurisdiction.

This scheme’s success in Jharkhand, particularly in Jamshedpur, reflects a significant boost to the local economy and support for the grassroots business sector.
