Empowering Rural Women and Youth: Jamshedpur University’s NSS Initiative
Jamshedpur Women’s University’s NSS wing conducted a vital awareness campaign in Somai Jhopdi, focusing on social issues and empowering rural women with skills.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant move towards societal betterment, Jamshedpur Women’s University’s NSS wing hosted an impactful awareness campaign in the village of Somayjhopdi.
The campaign commenced with a tribute to village heads Bharat Jora and Lakshmi Soy, recognizing their vital roles in the community.
NSS students engaged the local population through street drama, addressing critical issues like de-addiction and child marriage, providing insightful solutions.
Through interactive games and songs, the university’s girl students imparted valuable lessons on cleanliness and patriotism to the village children.
Skill development training for rural women was a key feature of the event, teaching them to craft paper bags, papad, and badi, enhancing their livelihood opportunities.
The distribution of sanitary napkins to village girls, coupled with education on menstrual hygiene, marked a significant step towards women’s health awareness.
The program’s success was bolstered by the contributions of Coordinator Dr. Gloria Purti and NSS officers Dr. Pushp Lata, Dr. Sunita Kumari, Dr. Chhagan Lal Aggarwal, and Ms. Reena Bagh.
The active participation of women from Jalsahiya and self-help groups underscored the community’s engagement and commitment to the campaign’s goals.
