Jamshedpur media fraternity witnesses a pivotal moment as Sanjeev Bhardwaj is elected President of the Press Club, and Vikas Srivastava takes on the role of General Secretary. The voting process marked a historic first for journalist organization members.
JAMSHEDPUR – Sanjeev Bhardwaj has been elected as the new President of Press Club of Jamshedpur (2023-2026).
Vikas Srivastava will serve as the General Secretary.
Rakesh Singh of Dainik Hindustan and Sumit Kumar Jha of The Times India were chosen as Vice Presidents.
Amit Tiwari of Dainik Jagran takes the role of Co-Secretary.
Ved Prakash Gupta of Dainik Uditvani has been elected Treasurer, while Gangadhar Pandey of News Times secured the same post.
The election process took place at the Indian Red Cross Society building in Sakchi.
Voting began at 10 AM, with former president Srinivas casting the first vote.
Out of 117 permanent members, 110 participated in the election.
Voting concluded at 1 PM, followed by vote counting at 2 PM.
The winners were announced at 3:30 PM in the auditorium, receiving victory certificates and bouquets.
The election was overseen by former president Srinivas and other notable figures.
Legal Advisor Sudhir Kumar Pappu and several associate members contributed to the smooth process.
District police ensured adequate law and order arrangements.
Journalist organization ON members voted for the first time, marking a historic moment.
The steering committee expressed gratitude towards all participants and the Red Cross Society.
Vote Tally:
– Sanjeev Bhardwaj (President): 61 votes.
– Vikas Srivastava (General Secretary): 63 votes.
– Vice Presidents: Sumit Kumar Jha (68 votes) and Rakesh Singh (57 votes).
– Co-Secretary: Amit Tiwari (82 votes).
– Treasurer: Gangadhar Pandey (54 votes).
