Jharkhand Shivers as Cold Wave and Dense Fog Persist
Light Rain Expected in Southern Parts, Dense Fog Likely Tomorrow
Key Points:

- Dense fog to cover multiple districts, caution advised
RANCHI – Jharkhand continues to face severe cold wave conditions, particularly in Ranchi and its surrounding areas, as temperatures hit new lows.
In the past few days, Namkum recorded a minimum of 3°C, while McCluskieganj and Kanke saw temperatures drop close to 1°C.
Light Rain Likely in Some Districts
The Meteorological Department attributes the change to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. On Friday, partial cloud cover and light rain are expected in Jharkhand’s southern parts, including West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Simdega, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
Abhishek Anand from the Ranchi Weather Office stated that post-rain, dense fog will blanket the state.
Fog to Intensify Over the Weekend
On Saturday morning, dense fog is expected in northwestern and central Jharkhand, covering regions like Gumla, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Garhwa, and Ramgarh. Similar conditions will persist on December 22 across northeastern, central, and southern regions.
Affected areas include Ranchi, Gumla, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Sahibganj, Pakur, and parts of West and East Singhbhum.
Advisory Issued for Safety
The weather department has advised caution for drivers during foggy mornings to avoid accidents. Children and the elderly are urged to take precautions against the biting cold.
