Truck Overturns Near Sunsunia Forest Chakulia, Driver Injured
Accident on Chakulia-Dhalbhumgarh Road Raises Safety Concerns
Truck overturns near Sunsunia due to poor visibility and newly constructed speed breaker, leaving driver injured and sparking safety debates.
CHAKULIA – A truck, bearing the registration number JH 02 T 3971, met with an accident early Tuesday morning near Sunsunia on the Chakulia-Dhalbhumgarh main road.
Loaded with scrap, the truck was en route to Jamshedpur from Haldia when it lost control and overturned, resulting in injuries to the driver, Ayodhya Tiwari, a resident of Adityapur.
Pankaj Tiwari, the driver’s son, fortunately, escaped unscathed from the incident.
The mishap was attributed to a recently constructed speed breaker near Sunsunia forest’s road turn, combined with poor night-time visibility.
Ayodhya Tiwari, receiving treatment at Chakulia’s Community Health Center, recounted the difficulty in navigating the unexpected speed breaker.
This road has undergone significant renovations, including the installation of multiple speed breakers by the concerned authorities, funded by a multi-crore project.
Local residents had previously protested the speed breakers’ installation, voicing safety concerns.
Despite the protests, the speed breakers remain unaltered, leading to ongoing risks and this recent accident.
This incident has reignited discussions about road safety measures and the need for appropriate signage and visibility enhancements, particularly in areas with newly added traffic calming features.
