JAMSHEDPUR – Police in East Singhbhum district uncovered an illegal arms and narcotics racket in Sonari on Sunday evening.
A special raid team led by the city SP raided the houses and godown of Sameer Sardar and Lakhindra Sardar at Tillu Bhatta. The operation resulted in a major seizure of contraband, arms, ammunition, and weapon-making tools.
According to officials, 1,400 grams of ganja, a country-made pistol, 11 live cartridges, ₹2,41,600 in cash, a gold chain, several mobile phones, and an iPad were recovered from the premises.
From the godown, police seized a lathe machine, milling machine, drilling machine, grinder, and other tools used for manufacturing pistols. Authorities confirmed that the accused were running an illegal arms operation.
However, all suspects managed to escape during the raid. Police have registered Sonari Thana Case No. 108/2025 dated 23/08/2025 under relevant sections of the Arms Act and NDPS Act.
Meanwhile, investigators have intensified efforts to trace the entire network involved in the operation, given the seriousness of the case.
