However, this joyous occasion turned bittersweet for a family in Bankisol village, Dumariya block, East Singhbhum district, Jharkhand.
70-year-old Baset Murmu, father of Bhuktu Murmu, one of the laborers trapped in the tunnel, passed away on Tuesday without reuniting with his son.
Baset, who had been anxiously following the rescue efforts, succumbed before the news of his son’s safety reached him.
He had been closely monitoring the Bachwa campaign, hoping for his son’s safe return.
According to reports, Baset Murmu collapsed suddenly on Tuesday morning and passed away shortly after.
Due to the delay in Bhuktu Murmu’s return, the family conducted Baset Murmu’s last rites on Wednesday.
This incident highlights the emotional toll on families of those caught in such disasters.
