JAMSHEDPUR -Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri inaugurated the 37th Book Fair at the Ravindra Bhawan Complex, Sakchi, organized by the Jamshedpur Tagore Society.
Emphasizing the enduring significance of books, Bhajantri highlighted their irreplaceable role in human life during his inaugural address.
The Deputy Commissioner praised the Tagore Society for fostering a literary culture, noting the importance of passing this tradition to future generations.
He encouraged everyone, especially youth and students, to cultivate a habit of reading, citing its positive impact on life.
The 10-day event, running from November 24 to December 3, features stalls from 67 publishing houses, offering a diverse range of books in multiple languages.
Ashis Chowdhury, Secretary of the Tagore Society, underscored their commitment to nurturing a love for books among the younger generation.
This year’s book fair focuses on school children, offering nominal entry fees and free tickets for those unable to afford them.
The fair’s schedule varies, opening from 2 pm to 8:30 pm on weekdays and extending hours on weekends to accommodate more visitors.
Several dignitaries, including Tagore Society President Dr. H.S. Paul and Vice President Achintam Gupta, attended the inaugural event, highlighting the fair’s significance in the community.
