Tata Steel Clinches World Steel Association’s 2023 Safety and Health Excellence Award

Tata Steel Garners Global Acclaim for Innovative Real-time Risk Movement Visualisation in Safety Management

Tata Steel bags World Steel Association’s 2023 Safety and Health Excellence Recognition for its groundbreaking approach to Process Safety Management and real-time visualisation of risk movement.

JAMSHEDPUR – World Steel Association (worldsteel) has recently lauded Tata Steel’s pioneering strides in Process Safety Management with the Safety and Health Excellence Recognition for the year 2023.

In a reversal of roles, the prestigious yearly event by worldsteel aimed to honor innovation in safety measures, now finds one of its member companies, Tata Steel, in the limelight.

The company’s commitment to ‘ZERO Harm’ finds form in real-time visualisation of risk movement, an initiative that delivers timely alerts and insights on risk levels both within manufacturing units and neighboring communities.

Rajiv Mangal, who helms the Safety, Health & Sustainability division at Tata Steel, highlighted the company’s use of digital technology to enhance timely maintenance of Process Safety Critical Equipment. This has significantly minimized equipment failure rates. The executive also mentioned Tata Steel’s Process Safety School of Excellence, an institution designed to amplify the safety competency levels of employees.

Digital tools capture early failure indications in safety barriers present in hazardous processes, a technique that Tata Steel has innovated. The company’s framework for managing high-potential safety risks stands as a testament to this innovation.

In years past, Tata Steel has demonstrated a consistent evolution in Process Safety Management through the integration of robotic and technological solutions.
