DDC Emphasizes Role of Education in Voting Awareness
Deputy Development Commissioner stresses importance of Voters’ Awareness Forum and Election Literacy Club in promoting voter awareness, urges active engagement in voter list creation.
JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Manish Kumar presided over a critical meeting, emphasizing the crucial roles and goals of the Voters’ Awareness Forum (VAF) and Election Literacy Club (ELC).
Both are established to educate young people and potential voters on the significance of voting in democracy.
During the meeting, which included Deputy Election Officer Priyanka Singh, representatives of Inter and Degree Colleges, and nodal officials from different business firms, there was a call to actively engage and contribute to the creation of the voter list.
The DDC underlined the importance of each person’s role in promoting voting awareness, stressing the value of every qualified voter’s engagement in preserving democracy.
The immediate effort to establish ELC and VAF was emphasized, particularly in organizations and educational institutions where they have not yet been formed.
DDC Manish Kumar highlighted the need for special attention to Form-6 collection and completion for individuals turning 18 by October 1, 2024, or reaching that age by October 1, 2023. Applications can be submitted through the Voter Helpline app or voters.eci.gov.in.
To facilitate effective communication of election-related information, the deployment of Campus Ambassadors at all +2 schools and colleges was also considered.
Business nodal officers were further advised to support Form-6 applications for employees not on the voters’ list and to provide information on deceased or transferred workers to update the voters list accordingly.
A vital aspect of the conference was the emphasis on Voter Help Line Number 1950, a toll-free service providing essential election-related information to individuals.
The meeting served as a reminder of the collective responsibility towards voter awareness and the significance of a participatory democratic process.
