IIM Jamshedpur Hosts Felicitation Event and M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture

Indian Institute of Metals Jamshedpur Chapter organizes a special function for 2022 awardees, includes M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture on the future of steel.

JAMSHEDPUR – The IIM, Jamshedpur Chapter Secretary, Dr. Gopi Kishor Mandal, concluded the event by delivering a thank-you speech to all the attendees and participants.

The event attracted more than 50 participants, showing strong interest and participation from the community.

Y. Usha, the emcee of the seminar, expressed gratitude to the main guest, and Dr. A. N. Bhagat, the immediate past chairperson of the IIM Jsr Chapter, presented the chief guest with a souvenir.

A brief question-and-answer session followed the main presentation, engaging the audience and allowing them to delve deeper into the topics discussed.

Shri Ujjal Chakraborti, Managing Director of JCAPCPL and Chairman of the CII Jharkhand State Council, delivered the distinguished M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture on "The Steel; Material of Choice- Past, Present, Future."

In his insightful speech, he touched upon worldwide steel production, per capita steel consumption, strategies for boosting steel use, aesthetic expression through steel, technological innovation in the steel industry, and new applications for steel, concluding with the powerful statement, "STEEL is a metal miracle and impacts every part of our existence."

The event also paid homage to the late Mr. M.S. Khan, an Hon. Secretary who significantly contributed to the IIM Jamshedpur chapter’s growth, through the M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture.

As the Guest of Honor, Dr. Soumitra Tarafder, Former Adviser Management and Chief Scientist, CSIR-NML, graced the event, reflecting briefly on Mr. M S Khan’s contributions and receiving a token of appreciation.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, a professor at NIT Jamshedpur’s MME department and the chair of the IIM Jamshedpur Chapter, initiated the event with a welcoming speech, followed by the heartfelt congratulation of the awardees.

On August 8, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter, hosted the IIM ATM and NMA 2022 Awardees’ Felicitation Function and M S Khan Memorial Lecture at the CFE Auditorium in Jamshedpur.

The professionals who received awards in different categories are as follows:
