Saluting TSAF’s Mount Everest Conquerors on National Mountain Climbing Day

Tata Steel Adventure Foundation has shaped Everest conquerors since 1984. Celebrating their achievements on National Mountain Climbing Day.

JAMSHEDPUR – On National Mountain Climbing Day, August 1, Jamshedpur-based Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) celebrates its remarkable contribution to Indian mountaineering.

The foundation’s success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its staff and climbers.

Over the years, the foundation has fostered the development of adventure sports in India, with its climbers conquering the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest.

As of today, TSAF has proudly supported 12 climbers in their victorious ascent to Everest’s summit.

These include, from most recent to the first, Asmita Dorjee (May 23, 2023), Poonam (May 21, 2018), Swarnalata Dalai (May 21, 2018), Sandeep Tolia (May 21, 2018), Hemant Gupta (May 27, 2017), Susen Mahato (May 19, 2013), Arunima Sinha (May 21, 2013), Binita Soren (May 26, 2012), Meghlal Mahato (May 26, 2012), Rajendra Singh Pal (May 26, 2012), Premlata Agarwal (May 20, 2011), and Bachendri Pal (May 23, 1984).

It was Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Everest, who started TSAF back in 1984.

The foundation has since been assisting climbers by offering training and financial support.

These climbers have brought immense pride to the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, which has been preparing climbers for Everest since 1984.
