CPM Leader Subhash Munda Shot Dead in Ranchi, Protests Ensue
Unidentified gunmen assassinated CPI (M) leader Subhash Munda in Ranchi, leading to public outrage and vandalisation.
RANCHI – Communist Party of India (M) leader Subhash Munda was assassinated in the Daladali neighborhood of Ranchi, Jharkhand’s capital, by unidentified gunmen Wednesday night.
The incident reportedly occurred when Munda was in his office and the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire.
The murder has sparked tensions in the Daladali area, with people expressing their anger by vandalizing local stores and vehicles.
Ranchi’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), City SP, Rural SP, and the DSP of Hatia rushed to Daladali to take control of the situation, while police from five different stations were also dispatched to the scene.
The incident occurred near Nagdi police station, in the vicinity of Daladali.
Upon learning of Munda’s death, locals started wreaking havoc in the area, damaging numerous stores and vehicles.
Reportedly, the attackers stormed into Munda’s office and fired seven shots at him.
He was rushed to Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
As the situation escalated, more police officers from five different stations were deployed at Daladli Chowk to maintain law and order.
Subhash Munda was a popular tribal leader and he had contested the 2019 elections on the CPM ticket, securing close to 14,000 votes.
