CPI(M) Protest Against Manipur and Bengal Violence Lights up PM and CM Effigies

The CPI(M) held a Nukkad Sabha, protesting the violent events in Manipur and West Bengal, burning effigies of PM Narendra Modi and CM Mamata Banerjee.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a show of vehement opposition against the state-sponsored and planned violence occurring in Manipur and West Bengal, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) held a Nukkad Sabha at Birsa Munda Chowk in Sakchi.

As a part of their demonstration, the party activists set fire to the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.

At this protest meeting, speaker JP Singh expressed his deep concerns over the recent developments in Manipur.

He attributed the responsibility to the "double engine" government of the state, accusing it of not only failing to protect its citizens’ lives and livelihoods but also promoting violence in the pursuit of corporate gains.

Moreover, Singh indicated that this approach was undermining the protections offered by Article 371C of the Constitution.

He pinpointed the root cause of the escalating ethnic violence since May 3 to the manipulative electoral tactics of the ruling party, driving wedges and promoting xenophobia.
