Twin Hyvas with Identical Plates Seized in Sand Smuggling Bust
Illegal sand lifting operation halted by Chowka Thana police in Seraikela-Kharsawan.
SERAIKELA – Racket of illegal sand trafficking in East Singhbhum and neighboring Seraikela-Kharsawan districts continues unabated, despite restrictions.
Despite NGT orders, prohibiting the extraction of sand from rivers between June 15 to October 25, the sand mafia persists with their activities.
Bundu resident suspected to own the confiscated Hyvas with same registration number is under investigation.
Upon preliminary inspection, authorities suspect that the vehicles, bearing the identical registration number JH01-DH-5821, were owned by the same individual.
Both vehicles have been taken into custody as authorities continue to search for the owner.
Chowka Thana OC, Abhishek Pratap, pointed out that the drivers of these Hyvas likely engaged in unauthorized sand mining and transportation, in direct violation of NGT regulations.
Coincidentally, both Hyvas seized had the same registration number, leading to raised eyebrows.
However, the owners managed to escape the scene leveraging the cover of darkness.
Caught near Dirlong village on NH-33, the trucks were moving covertly from Bundu, Ranchi district towards Jamshedpur.
Based on a tip-off, two sand-loaded Hyvas were intercepted by a patrolling team on the NH-33 under Chowka thana area in the neighboring Seraikela-Kharsawan district, 40 km away, at around 2:00 am on Tuesday.
