Railway’s DRM Promises Assistance to Bereaved Family of Late Sunil Kumar Pillai

Nearly a month after the tragic loss of senior technician Sunil Kumar Pillai, Railway’s DRM visits the family in Jamshedpur, promising assistance and swift resolution of their issues.

JAMSHEDPUR – On July 22, almost a month after the tragic incident, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) from Chakradharpur arrived in Jamshedpur to visit the grieving family of the late Sunil Kumar Pillai, a senior technician who had committed suicide on June 28.

At around 4:00 pm, the DRM arrived at the Railway Quarter No. 45/7 where the Pillai family resides.

During a thirty-minute conversation with the Pillai family, the DRM was apprised by Nirupama Pillai, the deceased’s wife, about their precarious financial situation.

Nirupama pleaded for immediate compensation for her husband’s demise, a job for her child, and justice against the railway employees whose alleged abuse drove her husband to suicide.

Responding to the family’s plight, the DRM promised swift action.

He instructed the Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer present there to expedite Sunil Kumar Pillai’s settlement process and hasten the job offer for his son.

The DRM also had empathetic conversations with the late Pillai’s children about their education and aspirations, expressing his sincere condolences for the tragic event.

The DRM regretted the unfortunate incident, asserting that had Pillai spoken to the higher officials in Chakradharpur, this tragic event could have been avoided.

He also gave an order to demolish an encroached house in front of Pillai’s family quarter.

The DRM, accompanied by senior representatives from various departments, surveyed the disputed land and questioned his officials extensively, even reprimanding one.

Nirupama Pillai expressed her gratitude for the DRM’s visit, stating that it had brought some courage to her family during these tough times.

She revealed her plans to visit Chakradharpur to provide the DRM with necessary land-related documents.
