Police in Jamshedpur Arrest Four in Interstate Robbery Network
Four suspected members of an interstate robbery network were arrested late Tuesday in rural Jamshedpur, marking a significant achievement for local police.
JAMSHEDPUR – Late on Tuesday, around 11.30 p.m., local police detained four individuals in a vehicle near the Bangudda Saheb dam, within the jurisdiction of the Kamalpur police station in rural Jamshedpur.
After performing rituals at Dham, Govinda Dey and Chhotu Baba were returning to their residences in Jamshedpur when they were apprehended. According to local sources, both men are linked to an interstate network of robbers, although no details about other passengers in the vehicle are currently available.
Acting on confidential information, several police officials, including Santan Tiwari Dilip Billung, the head of the Baharagoda police station, Shyamsundarpur police station chief, and Ranjit Kumar Singh and Dhiranjan Kumar from Patmada and Kamalpur police stations respectively, participated in the late-night raid operation.
The vehicle in which the accused were traveling, a Ford, has been seized and is currently held at the Kamalpur police station.
Police sources view this as a significant success, hinting at potential further arrests following the late-night raid in Jamshedpur. This incident gains significance as a Bolero car was recently reported stolen from the Ghatshila divisional region, prompting the police to intensify their operations against a suspected gang of thieves in Jamshedpur, allegedly composed of five members.
This gang is suspected of operating in various regions of West Bengal and Jharkhand, specializing in stealing cars and submersible pumps.
With a Bolero car and numerous submersible pumps reported stolen, the SSP of the Jamshedpur district is expected to shed light on the matter in a news conference on Wednesday.
The police are continuously interrogating the detained suspects.
