Main accused Paramjeet S surrenders, his wife arrested from Adityapur
Father-daughter suicide case brings focus to police inaction in old case lodged by deceased, investigating officer in dock
Jamshedpur: Paramjeet S, the main accused in the father-daughter Jugsalai Railway Crossing suicide case, surrendered to the courts on Thursday. His wife, also accused in the case, on the other hand, was arrested from Adityapur. She has been sent to judicial custody.
The city police are now trying to get the main accused Paramjeet S on remand.
The police have also taken a serious view of the allegations of inaction against the investigating officer of the case lodged earlier by the deceased Preetpal S. The City SP Subhash Chandra Jat has sought a report on the entire matter.
The wife of the deceased Preetpal S had got an FIR registered against her brother-in-law, the main accused, way back on December 16, 2020.
The deceased in his suicide note alleged that no action was taken against the accused. He alleged that he himself was being pressurised for withdrawing the case. Things took a turn for the worse as Preetpal S and his daughter jumped before a speeding track at Jugsalai track and committed suicide.
The suicide and tragic end of father and a daughter has shocked the entire city. The fact that the deceased was a Tata Steel employee and all three brothers belong to upper middle class has been the focus of the discussions in the city.
51-year-old Tata Steel employee Preetpal S committed suicide along with his 21-year-old daughter by jumping before a running train near Jugsalai Railway crossing Wednesday evening.
Both father and daughter had died on the spot.
Domestic quarrel and dispute over paternal property between brothers has allegedly led to the tragedy.
According to the information received, before the suicide, the deceased had also written a suicide note, in which he held his own two brothers, identified as Paramjit S and Harjit S, responsible for his and his daughter’s suicide.
