Jharkhand Police and State Govt Tighten Grip on Crime After Recent ATS Shooting

In response to a shooting incident involving the Jharkhand ATS team, the police department and state government ramp up measures to combat crime.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand Police, alongside the state government, have begun formulating strategies to clamp down on organized gangs following a recent shooting incident involving the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).

In a high-level meeting at the Police Headquarters, key figures including State Home Secretary Avinash Kumar, Jharkhand Police DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, Jharkhand Police IG Operations AV Homkar, ATS officers and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from all districts were in attendance.

Jharkhand Police DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, in the meeting, issued strict directives to the district SPs to curb the surge in crime and dismantle the structured criminal gangs across the state.

Tackling Organized Crime: A Priority

State Home Secretary Avinash Kumar reported that the meeting held with all district SPs focused on restraining the organized criminal activities in Jharkhand. The state government has reviewed recent cases and is adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards crime, putting the security of the state’s citizens as a top priority.

Preventing Crime and Discouraging Youth from Criminal Activities

DGP Ajay Kumar Singh explained that the meeting primarily focused on preventing crime and reviewing measures to control organized crime.

Guidelines have been issued based on the review of recent incidents with district SPs. He added that the ATS is taking action against the key figures in the organized crime circuit and efforts are underway to protect the youth from being lured into criminal activities for money.

In light of inquiries about criminal gangs operating from within the prison system, it was revealed that investigations are ongoing and strict action will be taken.

The authorities are committed to plugging any security gaps and ensuring that criminals are held accountable for their actions.
