Court Reprimands Mango Police in Cyber Crime Case

Court Reprimands Mango Police in Cyber Crime Case

Show-Cause Notice Issued Over Failure to Track Absconding Accused

Bail revoked for two suspects as local law enforcement faces scrutiny for non-compliance with court orders.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Special Court for Cyber Crime has issued a show-cause notice to the In-charge of Mango police station, highlighting a growing rift between the judiciary and local law enforcement.

The court’s action comes in response to the police station’s repeated failure to provide information about two absconding accused in a cyber crime case.

"This lack of communication is unacceptable," stated Judge Aabhas Verma. "It impedes the judicial process and undermines public trust in our system."

Case Background

The accused, Sudhakar Kumar and Pawan Kumar from Gaya, Bihar, were granted conditional bail by the Jharkhand High Court.

They were required to report monthly to the police station but have been absent.

The court had sent multiple requests for information, including letters on July 5 and May 8, 2024, which went unanswered.

Legal Consequences

Judge Verma has given the police station in-charge one week to explain the lapse in communication.

The bail bonds of both accused have been revoked.

The original case, filed in 2022, involves charges of fraud and cyber crime related to an ATM card swap scheme.

This incident underscores the challenges in prosecuting cyber crimes and the importance of cooperation between different arms of the justice system.
