Major Blow to Maoist Activity in Jharkhand

15 CPI Maoist Members Surrender in Security Forces Campaign

In a significant development in Jharkhand, 15 members of the CPI Maoist organization, including a minor, have surrendered to the district police and security forces.

CHAIBASA – The surrender of 15 members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), including a minor, marks a crucial victory for the district police and security forces in their campaign against Naxalites.

Among those who surrendered are key figures such as Pradhan Koda alias Deven Koda and Chandromohan alias Chandro Angriya alias Roshan.

This event occurred in the West Singhbhum Chaibasa district, where the individuals were previously active in Maoist squads.

The Jharkhand Police Headquarters announced that these local residents’ surrender would significantly impact Maoist activities in the state, particularly in West Singhbhum Chaibasa.

Leading figures, including Misir Besara alias Sagar ji and Patiram Majhi alias Anal Da, have surrendered, expressing disillusionment with the exploitation of local people.

This surrender follows extensive operations by Jharkhand Police, CRPF, Cobra, and Jharkhand Jaguar units, under the guidance of the state’s top police officials, to combat Naxalite presence and encourage surrenders through beneficial policies.

Since 2022, these efforts have resulted in the arrest of 161 Naxalites and the surrender of 11, along with the recovery of numerous explosive weapons and the demolition of Maoist camps and bunkers.

The establishment of 16 new security camps in Chaibasa district further aims to enhance local security and curb extremist activities.

All surrendered Naxalites will be offered rehabilitation opportunities to reintegrate into mainstream society, highlighting the government’s commitment to peace and development in Naxal-affected areas.
