In Jharkhand’s Kolhan region, a severe heat wave continues to strain daily life, affecting traffic and distressing residents with peak afternoon temperatures.
JAMSHEDPUR – A severe heat wave has struck Jharkhand’s Kolhan region, impacting traffic and causing widespread distress among residents, especially during peak afternoon hours.
On Wednesday, Seraikela recorded a scorching high of 45.4 degrees Celsius, marking the region’s peak temperatures.
Jamshedpur was not far behind, registering a maximum of 44.3 degrees Celsius.
Nearby, Baharagora and West Singhbhum recorded temperatures of 43.7 and 43.3 degrees Celsius respectively.
This ongoing climatic phenomenon has enveloped several districts including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan, along with Godda and Pakur, all of which are experiencing similar oppressive conditions.
The Meteorological Department’s Ranchi Center anticipates the heat wave to persist, affecting a wide swath of Jharkhand including Bokaro, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj districts through Thursday.
The afternoon’s extreme heat has resulted in diminished traffic across city localities, markets, and intersections as both pedestrians and drivers struggle with the harsh conditions.
