Palamu Police Uncover Maoist Bunker, Seize Explosives Ahead of PM’s Rally

Woman arrested for allegedly sheltering senior Maoist figure Nitesh Yadav

In a significant breakthrough just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled election rally in Palamu on May 4, the police uncovered a Maoist bunker containing materials for constructing land mines and other explosives, and arrested a woman accused of harboring a senior Maoist figure.

RANCHI – Palamu Police have dealt a major blow to the banned Naxalite organization CPI-Maoist by uncovering a bunker containing materials for constructing land mines and other explosives, and arresting the wife of Akhilesh Yadav for allegedly providing shelter to Maoist Nitish Yadav.

The bunker was discovered outside a residence in Hussainabad, owned by Akhilesh Yadav, whose wife was apprehended at the scene for her alleged involvement in harboring the senior Maoist figure.

The police seized various items, including gunpowder and other explosive materials, from the Maoist bunker during the operation.

The crackdown comes in the wake of CPI Maoists distributing posters in several police station areas, including Haidernagar and Pandu of Palamu, prompting the police to initiate continuous operations in the border regions.

It is believed that the intensified police operations may have forced the Maoists to relocate and conceal their supplies, leading to the discovery of the bunker and the subsequent arrest.

The police acted swiftly upon receiving intelligence regarding the Maoists’ activities and achieved success in their operation, dealing a significant blow to the banned organization.

The arrest of Akhilesh Yadav’s wife for allegedly providing shelter to Nitesh Yadav highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle the Maoist network and bring those involved to justice.

The discovery of the Maoist bunker and the seizure of explosives is a timely intervention, especially given the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Palamu for an election rally on May 4.
