Arki Police Apprehend Maoist Member With Election Boycott Materials

Suspect Accused Of Murder And Possession Of Naxal Propaganda

Authorities recover posters, banners, and a motorcycle during raid on Sadho Hembram’s residence.

RANCHI – Arki Police have arrested Sadho Hembram, an alleged Maoist member, seizing election boycott materials from his residence.

SDPO Varun Rajak announced the arrest in a press conference on Monday, detailing the recovery of 45 Maoist posters and a banner.

"Acting on confidential information, we apprehended Hembram from his house, where we discovered Naxal propaganda materials," Rajak stated.

The police also confiscated a motorcycle during the raid, believed to be used for distributing the seized materials.

Authorities claim Hembram was in constant communication with Maoist groups and planned to use the materials to disrupt the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"The suspect’s activities were thwarted due to heightened vigilance by police and paramilitary forces," the SDPO explained.

Hembram faces three cases at Arki police station, including a murder charge dating back to December 22, 2023.

The accused is implicated in the killing of Jeevan Hembram in Bohanda, within the Arki police station jurisdiction.

This arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to curb Maoist activities in the region.

Local authorities have increased security measures in anticipation of potential unrest leading up to the elections.

The police urge citizens to report any suspicious activities related to election disruption attempts.
