JAMSHEDPUR – The Bharatiya Janata Party unveils its candidate list for the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, emphasizing increased female representation in key constituencies.
The BJP has announced 66 candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections.
Notably, the party has fielded 16 women candidates in high-profile constituencies.
This move signals a push for greater female representation in state politics.
Sita Soren, sister-in-law of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will contest from Jamtara.
Meanwhile, Muniya Devi faces off against the CM’s wife, Kalpana Soren, in Gandey.
Former state education minister Dr. Neera Yadav will run from Koderma.
In Jamshedpur East, Purnima Das Sahu, a political novice, secured the BJP ticket.
She is the daughter-in-law of former Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
Moreover, Meera Munda, wife of former Union Minister Arjun Munda, will contest from an unconfirmed constituency.
The list includes candidates from tribal-dominated regions, crucial for the BJP’s strategy.
Geeta Balmuchu will contest from Chaibasa, while Geta Koda runs in Jagannathpur.
Additionally, Pushpa Devi Bhuiyan has been nominated for the Chhatarpur seat.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP’s election co-incharge, expressed confidence in the selections.
