JAMSHEDPUR – The weather in Jamshedpur changed abruptly on Saturday as dense dark clouds gathered over the city and strong winds began blowing, bringing rain to several parts of the city.
Pedestrians on the roads faced difficulty due to the strong winds. However, residents who had been struggling with heat and humidity got considerable relief from the rain.
A drop in temperature was recorded as soon as the showers began. The weather turned pleasant across the city.
Following the change in weather, many residents were seen enjoying the rainfall at various locations. Meanwhile, strong winds raised concerns about broken tree branches in some areas. There were also apprehensions about disruption to the power supply in certain localities.
Jamshedpur had been reeling under a severe heatwave in recent days, with temperatures crossing 41 degrees Celsius. The meteorological department had earlier issued a rain and storm alert for several districts of Jharkhand, including Jamshedpur, till May 25.
According to the weather department, cloudy skies are likely to persist for the next few hours. Light to moderate rain is expected to continue over the city during this period.
