JAMSHEDPUR – A three-month-old baby elephant rescued from Hat Gamharia forest has arrived at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.

The calf fell into a pit while traveling with its herd. The Chaibasa forest division team conducted the rescue operation. Moreover, they transported the elephant safely to Chandil Wildlife Sanctuary.

The baby elephant now resides at Makulakocha checkpoint’s deer park. Veterinary specialists from Gujarat’s Vantara are providing medical treatment. Additionally, the calf’s legs remain bound for safety during recovery.

Dinesh Chandra, an official from Dalma West Forest Range, oversees the treatment. The veterinary team monitors the elephant’s health continuously. However, officials report the calf remains in stable condition.

Ranjani elephant had remained alone at the sanctuary for considerable time. The new arrival provides companionship for the resident elephant. Furthermore, tourists will now observe both elephants at the facility.

The pair will attract visitors exploring Dalma Sanctuary. Tourists previously viewed deer and sambar at the park. In addition, they observed Ranjani elephant during their visits.

The Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary recently unveiled new attractions for visitors. The sanctuary experiences annual elephant migrations to Bengal each year. Meanwhile, elephant herds have caused concerns in surrounding villages.

The Tata Zoo promotes elephant conservation awareness through educational programs. Ichagarh villages have also experienced elephant-related challenges recently.
