AJSU Protests Against State Government Over Multiple Issues in Jamshedpur
Accusations of corruption, broken promises fuel AJSU’s demonstration against the state government in Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – The All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party lodged a strong protest against the state government, accusing it of corruption and not fulfilling its promises.
The day-long dharna took place in front of the Block Development Officer’s office, highlighting numerous pressing issues in the Golmuri to Jugsalai block under East Singhbhum district. The party subsequently submitted a memorandum.
The list of grievances aired during the protest was long. It ranged from accusing the government of harassing electricity consumers over unpaid bills, poor power infrastructure in rural areas, delayed payment of arrears for paddy purchased from farmers, and slow provision of fertilisers and seeds. The party also demanded repair of deteriorating roads and compensation of Rs 10 lakh for families of road accident victims. The demonstration was part of AJSU’s protest concerning 29 such demands.
District President Kanhaiya Singh revealed information about this demonstration.
He claimed corruption was at an all-time high in the state, and the government was being run through video CO and police stations.
Singh alleged that the current administration was harassing the state’s populace, crime rates were skyrocketing, and the police were focusing only on recovery.
The AJSU party, he said, is striving to awaken the government to these realities.
AJSU has taken up these 29 public-interest demands, progressing from the block office to the city council and ultimately protesting in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.
They have put forth their demands before the Chief Minister of the state. If their demands continue to be ignored, the AJSU party has committed to taking their protest to the streets.
