Monkey Electrocuted by Power Lines in Dumka, Villagers to Build Temple in its Honor
DUMKA – A monkey was electrocuted after coming in contact with 11,000-volt power lines in the village of Mohlidih, in Masaliya block, Dumka.
The incident took place on Sunday when two monkeys strayed into the village from the forest area of Gumroh mountain.
While jumping around, one of the monkeys touched the power lines located on the roadside, resulting in its immediate death.

The local villagers reacted to the incident by parading the deceased animal around the village in a handcart, accompanied by the playing of local musical instruments.
In a symbolic gesture, the villagers performed the monkey’s last rites following full traditional rituals.
Additionally, they decided to construct a grand temple dedicated to Bajrangbali, the Hindu Deity, at the burial site of the monkey.
The event was attended by many local villagers including Pradeep, Nayan, Sanjay, Bapi, Arjun, Ajay, Santo, Badal, Rakesh, Mohit, and Narayan.
