Jamshedpur Police Arrest Extortionist B Guha from Kolkata

Accused B Guha, arrested from Kolkata for demanding extortion from businessmen, has been remanded to judicial custody by Sidhgora police, Jamshedpur.

JAMSHEDPUR – Within 72 hours, Sidhgora police station in Jamshedpur managed to arrest the accused of demanding extortion from businessmen, from Kolkata, and placed him under judicial custody.

The arrested youth is identified as B Guha, from whom the police have recovered two mobile phones.

Ranjit Kumar, the station in-charge, disclosed the details of this arrest. He stated that a written complaint was filed by the plaintiff Amit Chawla on July 5, accusing an individual of demanding extortion in the name of Sonu Singh, through the mobile number 91556 93181.

Chawla also revealed that other neighboring shopkeepers, Mohan Prasad and Vivek Jha, had been victims of similar extortion demands.

Based on the written complaint, the police initiated an investigation, which revealed that the mobile number in question was registered in Kolkata.

Upon relaying this information to senior officials, a team was dispatched to Kolkata.

B Guha, a resident of Gol Pahadi under Parsudih police station, was arrested by the team and transported back to the city.

During the interrogation, Guha confessed to making extortion demands from around 25 shopkeepers and businessmen of the city, using the alias Sonu Singh.

It was further revealed that Guha had successfully extorted money from some shopkeepers in Sitaramdera and Jugsalai police station areas.

After the interrogation, B Guha was sent to judicial custody.

The police have confirmed that B has a criminal history with cases registered against him at multiple police stations in Jamshedpur, including Kadma, Telco, Sakchi, Jugsalai, Bishtupur, and Sitaramdera.

The arresting team included station in-charge Ranjit Kumar, ASI Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Pankaj Kumar Tiwari, and driver Sunil Kumar Pandey.
