Investigation Begins into Patient Deaths During RIMS Strike in 2018
Investigation commences into the deaths of 28 patients during the RIMS strike on June 1, 2018, by a committee chaired by retired District Judge Sajjan Kumar Dubey.
RANCHI – In a major development, an investigation has commenced into the deaths of 28 patients that occurred during a strike of junior doctors and nurses at RIMS on June 1, 2018.
This news follows the formation of a one-member judicial committee chaired by retired District Judge Sajjan Kumar Dubey.
The committee was constituted by the bench of Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Wednesday.
The office of the Inquiry Committee has been established on the first floor of the administrative building of RIMS.
The committee has provided instructions that all involved parties should present oral and documentary evidence in their favor before the inquiry committee from July 10 to 20.
The PIL was lodged by social worker S Ali, who demanded the creation of a committee to probe the deaths of the 28 patients, called for action against those responsible for the incident, and sought compensation.
