Heatwave Red Alert Issued in Kolhan Districts; Monsoon Expected by 17th-18th

A red alert for heatwaves has been issued in all three Kolhan districts, with the mercury hitting the 42-43°C range for the past week.

JAMSHEDPUR – The city and surrounding areas are experiencing intense heat, with a heatwave red alert issued in all three Kolhan districts, including Jamshedpur.

No significant changes in maximum temperatures are expected over the next three to four days. On Friday, Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 43.8°C, while the minimum temperature was 28.8°C.

Godda marked the highest maximum temperature statewide, reaching 45.2°C. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand predicts light rain in East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, and West Singhbhum on June 17 and 18.

However, the region has been dealing with temperatures between 42 to 43°C for a week now. The Meteorological Center anticipates the monsoon to arrive in the next three to four days, yet until then, residents will have to endure the sweltering heat.

Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for West and East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan due to the heat on June 17 and 18.

Residents have been urged to remain extremely vigilant during this period.

Although pre-monsoon showers are expected, they won’t cause any significant change in the maximum temperature.

Therefore, people are advised not to venture outside between 12 noon and 3 pm.
