Residents Advised to Stay Cautious During Isolated Thunderstorms
The Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for much of Jharkhand, warning of potential isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning from March 30th to the morning of March 31st, with the central regions, including Ranchi, being the most likely affected areas.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand is bracing for a mix of weather conditions over the next few days, with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in the central and western parts of the state.
The alert, which is valid from March 30th to the morning of March 31st, suggests that residents in these areas should remain cautious and stay informed about the latest weather developments.
Dry Spell and High Temperatures Persist
Despite the thunderstorm alert, much of Jharkhand has experienced dry weather on Friday, with only a trace of rainfall recorded in some areas. The highest rainfall was a mere 0.5 mm at the Latehar Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Temperatures across the state remained high, with Ranchi reporting a maximum of 33.9°C and a minimum of 20.4°C, while Jamshedpur witnessed temperatures reaching up to 38°C with a low of 23.4°C. Daltonganj recorded the highest maximum temperature in the region at 38.5°C.
Western Disturbance to Affect Jharkhand
According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of a western disturbance will be seen in Jharkhand during this period.
The yellow alert issued by the department warns of possible drizzle with thunderstorms in the western, southern, and central parts of the state, including districts such as Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
"Residents in these areas should exercise caution and stay updated on the latest weather advisories," said a weather expert.
"While the thunderstorms are expected to be isolated, it is always better to be prepared."
Dry and Warm End to the Month
Looking ahead, the rainfall forecast for March 31st to April 1st suggests predominantly dry conditions across Jharkhand, with all districts marked to have less than a 25% chance of isolated rainfall. This indicates that the state is likely to experience clear skies and continued warm temperatures as the month comes to an end.
