Yellow Alert Issued for Heat Wave in Jharkhand, Warns IMD

16 Districts Likely to be Affected, Temperatures to Rise in Ranchi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for a heat wave in Jharkhand, with most districts expected to be affected between Friday, June 7, and June 10.

RANCHI – Abhishek Anand, the chief of the Ranchi-based weather center, has warned that heat wave conditions will prevail in several parts of the state, particularly in the northwestern, central, southern, and adjoining northeastern regions.

Some places in the southern and central parts of Jharkhand may also experience thunderstorms with strong winds on the same day.

According to the meteorological center head, 16 districts are likely to be impacted by the heat wave from June 8 to 10.

These include six districts in the northwestern part, four districts in the southern part, and six districts in central Jharkhand.

Ranchi, the state capital, is also expected to experience heat wave conditions starting from June 7.

Rising Temperatures and Partial Cloud Cover

The maximum and minimum temperatures in Ranchi are set to increase, with the heat wave situation persisting despite partial cloud cover until June 9.

The maximum temperature is likely to reach 41 to 42 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has forecasted a gradual increase in the maximum temperature across the state by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days.

Following this, no significant changes in temperature are anticipated for the subsequent two days.

Possibility of Light Rain from June 11

The Meteorological Department has indicated that from June 11 onwards, light rain accompanied by thunder may occur in some places in the northeastern, central, and southern parts of Jharkhand.

This may provide some respite from the heat wave conditions that are expected to grip the state in the coming days.

The yellow alert issued by the IMD serves as a warning for residents to take necessary precautions and stay hydrated during the period of high temperatures.

Authorities are likely to take measures to ensure the well-being of the public, particularly vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

As the heat wave is set to affect a significant portion of the state, it is crucial for people to stay informed about the weather conditions and follow the guidelines provided by the authorities to prevent heat-related illnesses and ensure their safety.
