Several Districts on High Alert for Heat Wave, Meteorological Department Issues Warnings
Jharkhand experienced a sweltering Monday, with relentless heat sweeping across the state following a stormy Sunday, causing discomfort among residents.
RANCHI – The mercury soared to scorching levels in Jharkhand, with Garhwa district recording the highest temperature at a blistering 41.7 degrees Celsius.
Four other districts also witnessed temperatures surpassing the 40-degree Celsius mark, adding to the heat woes of the residents.
In Jamshedpur, the maximum temperature reached 39.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 27 degrees Celsius.
Intermittent rain provided some respite in Ranchi, Khunti, and Lohardaga until 5:50 pm.
Heat Wave Alerts Issued for Multiple Districts
As temperatures continue to escalate, several districts in Jharkhand have been placed on high alert for heat wave conditions.
Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra have been issued a heat wave alert specifically for June 4.
The Meteorological Department has also forecasted heat wave alerts for various regions of the state on June 5, 6, and 7.
On June 5 and 6, heat wave alerts have been issued for the North Western regions, including Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Koderma, Latehar, and Lohardaga.
Central regions, comprising Ranchi, Bokaro, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, and Ramgarh, are also expected to face heat wave conditions on these dates.
Extensive Heat Wave Alert for June 7
The heat wave alert for June 7 extends to a wider area, covering the western, southern, central, and adjacent north-eastern parts of Jharkhand.
Districts such as Ranchi, Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan are likely to be affected by the heat wave on this day.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the scorching heat and stay hydrated.
The Meteorological Department continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates on any changes in the weather conditions.
