Intense heatwave followed by a sudden downpour brings respite to residents.
JAMSHEDPUR – Over the weekend, people in Jharkhand, including Kolhan, had to endure scorching heat and high humidity, which made them feel extremely uncomfortable. Fortunately, a sudden downpour around 5:30 pm in Jamshedpur and nearby areas brought much-needed relief.
Unbearable Heat Conditions
Daltonganj experienced a scorching heatwave, with the highest temperature reaching a sweltering 45.4 degrees Celsius. There were also high temperatures in other areas, with Saraikela reaching 41.1 degrees, Jamshedpur at 38.3 degrees, and West Singhbhum at 39.8 degrees. Baharagora experienced a temperature of 36.8 degrees, while Ranchi had a higher temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius.
In the midst of the scorching heatwave in Garhwa, Palamu, and Daltonganj, there was a welcome relief for several areas including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Bokaro, Chatra, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Jamtara, and Ramgarh as they received varying degrees of rainfall.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for several districts, cautioning about thunderstorms and strong winds with speeds anticipated to reach 40-50 km per hour. The districts that are currently under alert are Ranchi, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, Bokaro, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Pakur, Jamtara, Dhanbad, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan.
It is recommended that individuals remain indoors when the weather is unfavorable and refrain from standing near trees or electric poles during lightning. Caution is being emphasized by the Meteorological Department to prevent accidents during the upcoming thunderstorms.
