Jamshedpur Workers’ College, Mango Celebrates Monthly ‘No Vehicle Day’
In a bid for environmental preservation, Workers College, Jamshedpur, marks the first day of every month as ‘No Vehicle Day’ promoting public transport use.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Workers’ College in Mango, Jamshedpur has launched a unique initiative towards environmental preservation – a ‘No Vehicle Day’ on the first day of every month.
On these designated days, teachers, staff, and students refrain from using private vehicles for commuting to college.
Should the first day of the month fall on a holiday, the next working day is celebrated as the ‘No Vehicle Day.
The student community too has fully committed to this endeavor, with everyone using public transport such as autos, buses, or other available means to reach the college.
The Principal in-charge, Subhash Das, explained that this initiative is the college management’s conscious effort to protect the environment.
Given that carbon monoxide emissions from vehicles pose harm to the environment, this initiative promotes the use of public transport at least one day per month to minimize the damage.
Das expressed hopes that this initiative not only helps to preserve the environment, but also inspires other city dwellers to adopt similar eco-friendly practices.
He said that this novel concept stands as a sign of the institution’s commitment towards sustainability and environmental responsibility.
