Lightning Strike Claims Young Boy’s Life in Baharagora, Mother Injured

12-year-old Shankar Singh from Bankata village, Baharagora block, died after a lightning strike; his mother sustained partial injuries.

BAHARAGORA – In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old boy from Bankata village in Baharagora block, died after being struck by lightning on Friday afternoon. His mother also sustained partial injuries in the natural disaster.

As per the details available, Shankar Singh and his mother, Sarla Singh, were returning home after collecting a load of paddy from a nearby field when they were caught in a sudden, light rain shower that was accompanied by a thunderstorm. Struck by lightning, both mother and son collapsed on the spot.

Local residents responded promptly and managed to get the unconscious pair to the Community Health Center Baharagora with the help of a 108 ambulance service. Unfortunately, Shankar Singh was declared dead upon arrival by the medical professionals, while his mother Sarla Singh is now out of danger after receiving immediate first aid. She was subsequently sent home.

Baharagora police reached the scene of the incident and have initiated an investigation into the matter. They are also making arrangements for the postmortem of the deceased child.
