Jamshedpur DC Crackdowns on Traffic Rule Violations for Road Safety

Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav emphasizes road safety, counselling for habitual violators, and stricter enforcement of helmet rules in Jamshedpur.

Jamshedpur – The East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav took a firm stance against traffic rule violations during a review meeting for the road safety campaign in Jamshedpur.

The DC emphasized that apart from imposing fines, counseling should also be conducted for drivers who habitually break the rules.

She pointed out that in Jamshedpur city, only 60 to 70 percent of people are seen using helmets. As part of an intensive vehicle checking campaign, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the necessity of wearing helmets for both drivers and pillion riders. Violators could face immediate cancellation of their driving licenses.

She also highlighted the issue of triple riding and silencer modification, instructing the officials to take action against such violators. To improve road safety, she instructed authorities to install signage and boards at all black spots in the district, and to ensure they are clean and visible, even at night.

One of the key causes of road accidents, driving in the wrong direction and speeding, was also addressed.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the excise department to check illegal liquor sales at hotels and dhabas, which often contribute to these violations.

She also issued directives to the District Superintendent of Education to run regular awareness campaigns about traffic rules in schools and colleges.

She further urged the three municipal bodies to take strict action against illegal parking and road encroachment.

The meeting was attended by District Transport Officer Dinesh Ranjan, DSP Traffic Kamal Kishore, District Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar, representatives of NHAI, Tata Steel UISL (formerly Jusco) and Tata Motors, and all other concerned departmental officials of the Road Safety Committee.
