Jugsalai Youth Congress Committee Demands Fair Investigation of BPL Quota Enrollments in Private Schools

Jugsalai Youth Congress Committee demands investigation into BPL quota enrollments in private schools; warns of indefinite strike if ignored.

Jamshedpur – The Jugsalai Youth Congress Committee (JYCC) is demanding a thorough investigation into the enrollment process of students from the Below Poverty Line (BPL) quota in private schools for the 2023 and 2024 academic years.

The committee claims that some schools have failed to meet the Right to Education (RTE) 2009 mandate, enrolling only a small percentage of BPL quota students.

A delegation from JYCC visited the District Education Officer’s office at Bistupur to submit a demand letter outlining their concerns.

According to the committee, some private schools have enrolled as few as 5% of children from the BPL quota, while others have enrolled only 10%, causing confusion and frustration among parents.

The JYCC has taken up this cause with DSE office at Bistupur, aiming to expose the irregularities in the enrollment process and ensure that all eligible children receive a fair opportunity for education.

The committee has warned the education department that if their demands for a fair investigation are not met promptly, they will stage an indefinite strike in front of the department’s office.

The Youth Congress leaders said that the outcome of such investigation could have significant implications for the future of education equity in the region, as well as for the reputation of private schools involved in the enrollment process.
