Student Organizations’ Jharkhand Bandh Call Against 60-40 Employment Policy Affects Life in Adityapur

Jharkhand students protest 60-40 employment policy with statewide bandh, impacting passengers and businesses in Adityapur; police remained alert.

Jamshedpur – The state-wide Bandh call given by student organizations in Jharkhand evoked good response in Adityapur area as the bandh supporters blocked road traffic effectively at different places.

The student bodies had called for a statewide bandh on Tuesday to protest the Hemant government’s 60-40 planning policy.

The impact of the protest was evident in Adityapur, where students had gathered on Tata-Kandra road since morning, shouting slogans and blocking the road with burning tires near the Adityapur toll plaza.

The bandh has greatly affected passengers and long-distance vehicles on the road.

In anticipation of potential unrest, the police administration had increased its presence and deployed officers at various locations.

The Jharkhand State Students Union has called for a three-day agitation against the employment policy based on the 60-40 formula, reservation roster, discontinuation of D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) studies in government institutions, and demands for an employment policy based on Khatian.

The Kolhan Youth Fighters have also supported the protest.

A torchlight procession was held on Tuesday to appeal for the bandh, during which all educational institutions, businesses, and industries were asked to remain closed.

Exceptions were made for health-related emergency facilities.

The organizers had appealed to trade unions, traders, laborers, and owners and drivers of small and large vehicles to support the bandh on the 19th.
