Jharkhand Student Union calls for bandh, demands clarity on native status and changes to employment policy; rural areas see widespread impact.
Jamshedpur – The Jharkhand Student Union on Tuesday observed a statewide bandh to in support of their demands, which included a clear definition of Jharkhand natives, the repeal of the current employment policy, and a revamp of the employment policy.
The East Singhbhum Student Union also supported the bandh, resulting in the blockade of the main road at Karandih Chowk.
The impact of the bandh was significant in rural areas, with long-distance buses and goods vehicles ceasing operations.
In urban areas, the bandh’s effect was partial, but still noticeable.

Students are demanding that the government clarify who is considered a native of Jharkhand and who is not.
They also request the current employment policy be repealed as soon as possible and amendments made to the employment policy.
Their proposed changes include allocating 90% of employment to original Jharkhand residents and 10% to others.

By calling for the bandh and receiving support from other student unions, the Jharkhand Student Union hopes to draw attention to their concerns and prompt the government to address these issues promptly.
