Jamshedpur Advocates to resume judicial work from April 15, stalemate resolved

Legal community abstains from work on Thursday too, District Bar Association delegation meets District & Sessions Judge and SSP, decides to withdraw agitation,

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Advocates abstained from all judicial work on Thursday too in protest against the ‘handcuffing’ of fellow advocate Chandan Choubey. However, after a meeting of the ad hoc committee of the District Bar Association chaired by Chairman Lala Ajit Kumar Ambasht, a decision was taken to meet the District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar Mishra and the SSP Prabhat Kumar.

After the meeting with the District Judge and the SSP Prabhat Kumar, the ad hoc committee of the District Bar Association decided to resume work on April 15.

April 14 is a holiday due to Ambedkar Jayanti.

However, earlier in the day, all the advocates of the District Bar Association Jamshedpur abstained from judicial work.

Later, the advocates held a meeting in the library hall under the leadership of Lala Ajit Kumar Ambast, Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee, District Bar Association Jamshedpur.

In attendance at the meeting were senior advocates and members of the ad-hoc committee Tapas Kumar Mishra, Triloki Nath Ojha, Jayprakash, Senior Advocate Jitendra Kumar Singh, Ranjan Dhari Singh, and Advocate Akshay Kumar Jha, Mithilesh Singh, Anand Jha, Nandkishore Jha, Nandkishore Rai, Manpreet Kumar, Gaurav Pathak, and over 50 other advocates.

After deliberating on the matter, the ad-hoc committee members met with the District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar Mishra and informed him of their decision.

They also met with Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar to inform him about the recent developments and seek his assurance.

Following the meetings, the ad-hoc committee members decided that from April 15, 2023, all the advocates will return to work.

The decision was made after careful consideration of the situation and discussions with the District Judge and the SSP.

Advocates abstained from work on Thursday too.

The District Bar Association Jamshedpur is an organization that represents the interests of advocates and works to promote the rule of law in the district.

After the handcuffing of a fellow advocate Chandan Choubey in connection with Kadma Shastri Nagar violence case, the advocates had gone on a flash strike on Wednesday and abstained from judicial work even on Thursday.
