Kapali police arrest 4 in Suraj Kalindi murder case, reveal contract killing

Jamshedpur: The Kapali OP police of Kharsawan district have cracked the murder case of Suraj Kalindi, who was killed in his house on March 24.

The police have arrested four persons, including the conspirator, in connection with the case and sent them to judicial custody.

The main shooter and the weapon used in the crime are still missing, however.

The persons arrested by the police have been identified as Jaydrath Mahato, Vishnu Mahato, Santosh Gop, and Rakesh Gorai.

The police have recovered a Bolero and three mobile phones from them.

According to the SDPO Sanjay Kumar Singh, Suraj Kalindi was murdered over a land dispute, and Vishnu Mahato was the mastermind behind the crime.

He said that there were frequent disputes between Suraj Kalindi and Vishnu Mahato over a piece of land in Dobo, which neither of the parties was able to sell or occupy.

Vishnu Mahato then gave the responsibility of getting possession of the land and selling it to Jayadrath Mahato.

Together, they contracted two shooters and promised them to pay two lakh in cash, a Scorpio, and two bullet motorcycles for eliminating Suraj Kalindi..

The hired shooters were also given Suraj Kalindi’s identity and carried out his recce..

The arrested persons have admitted to their involvement in the crime, and the investigation has led to the conclusion that it was a contract killing.

The police are conducting raids to arrest the shooters and recover the weapon used in the crime, and they are confident of catching them soon.

The murder of Suraj Kalindi had raised concerns about the increasing crime rate in the region and the need for stricter law enforcement.
