Strict vigil for Ram Navami in Jamshedpur even as demolition drive in Mango dampens festive spirit

Elaborate plans in place for procession routes and barricades in Mango, other areas of city, demolition drive against roadside vendors acts as dampener of festival spirit

Jamshedpur: The district administration has chalked out an elaborate and foolproof plan for Ram Navami procession in Mango as well as other areas in view of the upcoming festival of Ram Navami. Detailed routes, roadmaps and barricades have been earmarked for the Ram Navami procession in the city, especially Mango area. However, an anti-encroachment demolition drive on Sunday in Mango, in which dozens of roadside shops were demolished, put a dampener on the festival spirit in the area.

The East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner, Vijaya Jadhav, conducted a surprise check in the Mango neighborhood Saturday night in view of the upcoming Ram Navami festival.

Jadhav expressed displeasure about a gym that was located in front of the Hanuman temple on Road No. 1 in Mango during her visit.

She asked the Mango Municipal Corporation officers to find out if the gym had been built in violation of the authorized design.

It was found that the gym was open late into the night from the first floor, with cars parked on the street below.

At the gym, there was no parking area, which caused problems for the locals too.

The Mango Municipal Corporation’s engineers will determine the degree of any divergence from the gym’s authorized plan and make the required revisions.

Jadhav also ordered the construction of barriers on New Purulia Road in Mango, the location of the Ram Navami procession.

To supervise the Ram Navami parade, checkpoints will be set up close to the Bari Mosque in Mango, the Mango Road No. 1 Hanuman Temple, Mango Chowk, and the Munshi Mohalla Masjid on Dimna Road.

The locals applauded the Deputy Commissioner’s initiatives and hoped that the inspection would lead to better preparation for and administration of the Ram Navami celebrations in Mango.
