Tata Steel’s Iron & Manganese Mines Bag 26 prizes in 60th Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Week

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has bagged 26 prizes at the 60th Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Week Competition-2022 held under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Chaibasa region at Gua mine of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on Sunday.

A total of 160 prizes under different categories were presented to various mining companies on the occasion.

Joda East Iron Mine was declared as the winner in Overall Performance in A-1 category, while Noamundi Iron Mine bagged Runner-up in the same category.

Tata Steel was the winner in Stall Exhibit category.

Besides, Noamundi Iron Mine was the winner in Publicity & Propaganda category in A-1 group while Joda East Iron Mine was declared Runner-up in the same categoty and group.

Similarly, Khondbond and Katamati Iron mines won two prizes each while mines of Ferro Alloys Minerals Division (FAMD) bagged seven prizes on the occasion.

The Mines Safety Week is observed every year in all the regions across the country to improve safe work practices in mines, significantly reduce accidents in mines and motive mine owners & employees for a zero-harm culture.

The function was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prabhat Kumar, Director General, DGMS in the presence of Altaf Husain Ansari, Director of Mines Safety, Chaibasa region; D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Raw Materials), Tata Steel; Bipin Kumar Giri, Chief General Manager (Mines), Gua Ore Mines, SAIL; Joydeep Dasgupta, Executive Director (Mines), JGOM, BSL, SAIL; Atanu Bhowmick, Director(I/c), RSP, SAIL; Amarendu Prakash, Director (I/c), BSL, SAIL and Ujjwal Tah, Dy. Director General of Mines Safety, EZ, Sitarampur.

The dignitaries inspected the stalls put up by various mining companies like Tata Steel, SAIL, Jindal Steel & Power, Odisha Mining Corporation and vendor partners in which best safety practices and safety equipments were displayed.

Cultural programmes presented by the dance troupes mesmerised the audience.

Among those present on the occasion were Saroj Kumar Banerjee, Chief, Joda East Iron Mine, Tata Steel; G V Satyanarayana, Chief, Khondbond Iron Mine , Tata Steel; Shirish Shekhar, Chief, Noamundi Iron Mine, Tata Steel, Awnish Kumar, Chief, FAMD, Tata Steel; Directors and Deputy Directors of DGMS, safety board members, union representatives, General Managers, Agents & Managers, officers, workmen inspectors and workers of various mining companies.
