Nobel Peace Prize co-laureate Rachinsky slams Russia for war in Ukraine

Nobel Peace Prize co-laureate Ian Rachinsky of the Russian human rights organization ‘Memorial’ has slammed Vladimir Putin’s ‘insane and unjust’ war in Ukraine.

He criticized this in a speech in Oslo, the capital of Norway on Saturday.

According to the reports in the media, Rachinski claimed on behalf of the memorial that in Ukraine President of Russia Putin’s insane and unjust war is being cloaked in idealism and justification.

Memorial, Russia’s oldest human rights organization, was founded in 1987. That is, just four years before the collapse of the Soviet Union.

It worked on Soviet-era human rights abuses for over 30 years. They also worked on human rights in Russia.

Earlier this year, the country’s Supreme Court shut down the organization.

This year, this Russian organization received the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialyatsky and Ukrainian human rights organization Center for Civil Liberties (CGS).
